Focal Point Focal Point is a column featuring helpful hints for amateur astronomers, beginners and experienced observers alike. What's New? Look here to quickly find out what's been updated on CAS Online since your last visit or for any special CAS events or announcements. CAS GENERAL MEETINGS: are held at the  Lake County Convention & Visitor's Bureau Welcome Center in Hammond, Indiana located on Kennedy Avenue just south of I-80/94.  General meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:30 pm. 2008 Public Events Conway Observatory Public Viewing Monthly public viewing events are held at Conway Observatory, Lowell. Public viewings are cancelled without notice when weather is unfavorable. See the events calendar for dates and time. CAS Summer Public Outing Craters of the Moon August 8th & 9th - 9:00 pm to 12:00 pm Conway Observatory CAS Fall Public Outing October 3rd & 4th - 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm Conway Observatory See the Events page for more details as they become available. In addition to the public outings, the CAS will be holding several "sidewalk astronomy" events during the year at various public places.
