East side  view 2009The 10x10 observatory control room features a computer, work desk, and heatLocated next to the control room is a heated restroom with running waterThe telescope level is elevated 4' above the control room. The roof controls are located in a stairwell leading up to this.The 16" LX200 is equipped with an Orion ST80 finder scope and electric focusers.The Pier-Tech pier can raise the telescope 20". The 220 volt winch moves the 3800 lb. roof very easily.A short door provides access from the ramps when the roof is open. Best access is from I-65 or US-41 to Indiana Route 2. From Route 2, take Hendricks St. south to Belshaw Road. Go Left on Belshaw 100 yards, then turn right on Chase St. Go .7 miles - the road turns to gravel pavement, and the observatory is located on the right.

Conway Observatory is open to the public on the following dates and times. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free. Programs may be cancelled due to inclement weather, call the CAS Hotline 773-639-5491 before visiting. A map and directions are found in the photogallery above.
