The Calumet Astronomical Society has been serving as the Region's organization for astronomical study, education, recreation, and outreach for over 35 years. Founded in 1975, and incorporated as an Indiana non-profit corporation in 2000, the Calumet Astronomical Society, Inc. (CAS) is a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit organization created for the purpose of pursuing the study of astronomy and promoting the education of of astronomy and space science. The CAS membership consists mainly of enthusiasts from the Northwest Indiana and Chicago metropolitan areas, but is open to anyone.
